To the reservoir we go…

I watch a numerous amount of ‘day in the life’ videos circulating around YouTube. It is always interesting to see how different everyone’s lives are, and the different things people accomplish in their day-to-day encounters. Of course, in the midst of my monotone life with a similar day to day cycle of waking up, drinking coffee, working, studying, eating, and sleeping, I attempt to incorporate spontaneous activities or maybe trips to the supermarket to brighten my days. Compared to previous years, I am definitely going out more with my family and friends which is always fun. So here comes a random, spontaneous, day in my life…
I woke up this one fine, sunny morning. As usual, I indulged myself in a cup of hot cappuccino to ensure my brain remains functional for the entire day. All of a sudden, I decided that I would love to go somewhere like near an ocean or a lake or anywhere near water to read and do some journaling. I got my books and pens ready and put them into the car. To determine the location of my current dreams, I went on Google Maps, and I looked at blue coloured water areas close to my house. There were a lot of coastal areas about 20 to 40 minutes from my place which I had already been to, so I wanted to go somewhere new to explore. I found a blue area about 10 to 15 minutes from my place, and I instantly thought that it looked picture perfect. It looked fairly big, and it was a reservoir as per Google Maps.
I jumped in the car and started my journey. It was the perfect sunny day to park myself near the glistening waters being engrossed in my book and feeling the subtle breeze play with my hair. I was super excited. I had the location on the GPS and followed GPS directions which led me to the middle of a road near a bridge. I frantically turned my head left and right for a glimpse of blue but met with failure. There was no water. Like a crazy person, I drove across this bridge a million times, and even went to the nearby roads which were located near this blue-coloured reservoir on the map. There was no parking close by, so I remained in the car hoping that my eyes were just not seeing properly. After 20 minutes of non-stop trying to get to this I guess non-existent body of water, I decided to drive home. I thought of going to the coastal areas but that was another 20 minutes of drive, and I decided I was done.
Of course, I had heard of ‘reservoir’, but I honestly didn’t know what it was, so I searched up the definition after getting home. I should have checked this before I ventured out because a reservoir is a man-made area where water is collected and stored to ensure there is a continuous supply of water. Maybe the reservoir I went to was dry due to the excess heat during summer? I have no idea. At least we learnt something. Do thorough research before starting a spontaneous day…
Should I go to the reservoir when it actually has water collected?
Written with sincerity,
Me.
