Here are some of my favourite childhood TV shows which I used to watch and rewatch to this day for nostalgia purposes…

As a little child, I used to always watch TV. Probably was not the greatest idea considering I literally cannot see without my glasses. I remember always having the TV playing in the background while I was doing my schoolwork or eating dinner. Again, not the ideal situation for my concentration but oh well, it does serve for nostalgia purposes. Unfortunately, being an adult now makes it hard to watch a lot of old TV shows and there is less time to explore the newer shows. Of course, I attempt to use my spare time to feed my nostalgia.

I used to watch a lot of Jetix TV shows when I was living in India as it was a channel available to me along with cartoon network. Once I moved overseas, I watched more Disney and Nickelodeon shows. I have included some of my favourite TV shows below.

1. Spongebob (1999)

Back in grades 4 to 6, I remember rushing home from school and instantly turning on the TV to watch Spongebob. This was a sort of addiction and on days where I was late from school due to extra-curricular activities, missing Spongebob was in a way devastating.

2. Power Rangers Mystic Force (2006)

My favourite Power Rangers was Mystic Force. I was absolutely obsessed and even played as the pink ranger with my friends. I have rewatched this many times including as an adult. Aside from Mystic Force, I also love Power Rangers SPD (2005) and Dino Thunder (2004). I do admit the first episode of Power Rangers Lightspeed rescue (2000) traumatised me as a little child.

3. Tom and Jerry (1940?)

Now who doesn’t love Tom and Jerry? The little cat and mouse chase I love to watch even now. Although it has been around for over 80 years, it’s still a go to TV show for many. Including me…

4.  Suite life of Zack and Cody (2005) and Suite life on Deck (2008)

This was probably my most favourite show as a teenager. I actually rewatched all the seasons and episodes of both Suite life of Zack and Cody and Suite life on Deck this year. I can’t imagine getting tired of rewatching it.

5. Get Ed (2005)

Not many people I have talked to has heard of this show. ED is genetically engineered and delivers packages while protecting the city from industrial crime. I love this show especially with its technological advances and something about this show sticks in my heart. I absolutely love the visual aspect.

6. Ying Yang Yo (2006)

I feel like I relate to the characters a lot especially the sibling fights. Their little arguments and bond give me happiness.

7. Totally Spies (2001)

I discovered this show when I was in grade 5. My friends and I were obsessed with this show, and we pretended to be the characters during our lunch breaks.

8. American Dragon: Jake Long (2005)

If I am being honest, I had a huge crush on Jake when I was young.

9. Pucca (2006)

This is one of my cutest TV shows I used to watch. The main characters don’t speak and its fun, romantic chase.

10. Popeye the Sailor Man (1933?)

Popeye would always be on TV when I was a child, and I remember watching random clips and being astonished that Popeye got stronger by eating spinach. I wasn’t a fan of spinach when I was younger and of course I didn’t get superhuman strength after eating it. I don’t actually mind spinach now.

11. Baby looney toons (2002)

I love babies! I remember always watching Looney toons whenever I was travelling in flights. It was my go-to for airplane travels.

12. Scooby-Doo (1969?)

I am a huge fan of mysteries and fun and I still watch Scooby-Doo to this day. I have also always wanted to try the Scooby treats which Scooby and Shaggy go crazy for.

Of course, this is just the tiniest list of TV shows what I used to watch. Some of my other childhood favourites include, Mickey Mouse, Master Raindrop, Sony with a Chance, Victorious, ICarly, Hannah Montana, Big Time Rush, and Wizards of Waverly Place as well.

I also was genuinely obsessed with Korean dramas mainly between 2014 and 2020. I still watch them till this day. Because of my high number of Kdrama favourites, I will do another post for them.

Written with sincerity,

Me.
